Dottoro Studio Theme

Demo Content

Demo content

The Demo content makes it easier to see how features work in the theme. With the help of the Demo content, you will have the same content as on the demo site in a few minutes.

The Demo content includes:

  • Pages and Posts
  • Comments
  • Thumbnails
  • Categories and Tags
  • Menu (primary navigation)
  • Slideshows and layers
  • Subheaders
  • Widgets and widget areas
  • and many more

Its highly recommended that you import the Demo content into a new installation of WordPress, otherwise all your current widget and theme settings will be lost!

The Demo content only works with the Dottoro Studio theme. Please install and activate the Dottoro Studio theme before importing the Demo content.

Steps:

1 Download the demo.zip file, and extract it.
2 Log in to your WordPress dashboard.
3 WordPress comes default with a 'Sample Page' and a 'Hello world' post. Remove them (move to trash).
4 Navigate to Tools > Import and select the WordPress option from the list (installation is required then activate and run).
5 Upload the demo.xml file located in the extracted demo folder.
6 The author of the demo content is Dottoro. In the 'Assign Authors' section you will be asked to map this author to an existing user on your site or to create a new user. We recommend to map it to an existing user on your site.
7 Select the 'Download and import file attachments' checkbox and click 'Submit'.
8 When the import process is finished, go to 'Theme Options / General' and select the 'Import / Export' tab.
9 In the import section, choose the theme_settings.json file located in the extracted demo folder then click 'Import Settings'.
10 At the end of the process you should have a ready-to-go website.

Optional steps:

  • The import process does not overwrite the permalink structure of your site. To get the same URL settings as on the demo site, go to 'Settings / Permalink' and paste this text: into the 'Custom Structure' text field, then Save Changes.

Notes:

  • Pages of the demo content will load slowly first time on your site because images need to be created in the required sizes.
